Wayward Outpost Getting Started on Eleske

Survive your first hour at Outpost Alpha and help retake Bravo.

Getting Started

This Getting Started guide is the onboarding path for Wayward Outpost, the Roblox military RP zombie logistics PvE shooter by Aerisk and the Wayward Outpost Community. You will spawn into a cold Eleske island warzone under the Greyt Republic banner, usually as Eleskan National Guard, on a free experience that already sits around multi-million visits with large 75-player servers. Your job in hour one is not to solo the Hive—it is to learn the base loop: survive at Outpost Alpha, master core controls, help Engineers repair, push to retake Bravo, understand materials versus armaments, and read the day counter that typically starts near Day 28.

Skip promo-code hunting entirely. There are no active codes; the Codes Hub explains rewards and scams. Class identity and later unlocks live on the Players Hub, while role strength is sketched on the Tier List. When you need the full tutorial index, return to the Guides Hub.

Minute 0–10: Spawn at Outpost Alpha

Most sessions drop you near Outpost Alpha, the friendly staging ground where repairs, regroups, and early supply runs begin. Take ten seconds to open the map with M so you can see the day number and nearby labels. Note Bravo’s direction early; you will walk or ride that road soon. Equip whatever starter rifle you have, check your flashlight (F) for dark interiors, and keep E ready for interactions—doors, supply nodes, repair prompts, and bash actions all lean on that key.

Stay with teammates. Wayward Outpost punishes lone wolves who wander toward Irueno City or APS before the server has bridges, ammo, and medics online. If zombies pressure the wire, hold angles instead of chasing kills into the fog. Alpha exists so the Guard can rebuild; treat every early death as lost repair time.

Controls you must know before Bravo

Memorize the PC essentials before the first firefight gets loud:

  • WASD move, C crouch, R reload
  • LMB fire, RMB aim
  • E interact / bash
  • F flashlight, T weapon light, V bayonet
  • N gas mask (critical later for CBRN and mist)
  • M map and day counter

Vehicle extras such as H honk and L headlights are covered on the dedicated Controls page. Do not wait until a night convoy to learn them.

Minute 10–25: Find an Engineer and repair

Wayward Outpost is a logistics shooter. An Engineer multiplies the whole server by fixing generators, bridges, fortifications, and damaged positions around Alpha and along the Bravo route. If you spawned as Infantry, pair with an Engineer instead of arguing about kills. Carry materials to their work sites. If you are the Engineer, announce repair priorities in chat: power first, then access routes, then nice-to-have cover.

Materials are the construction and repair resource. Armaments are the ammo and combat supply resource. Mixing them up wastes truck space and starves either the builders or the shooters. When in doubt, ask what the current objective needs—bridge down means materials; fireteam dry means armaments. Deeper truck, convoy, heli drop, and APS power habits live in Logistics.

Minute 25–45: Retake Bravo

Outpost Bravo is the classic early objective. A coordinated push beats a trickle of solo runners. Bring a Medic if one is on the roster, keep a Support or Radioman mindset for ammo sustain, and clear systematically rather than spraying from the road. Once Bravo is friendly again, you gain a forward staging point for further logistics and for later projects like the APC wreck route described in How to Get the APC.

Expect special infected pressure to rise as the day counter climbs. Early days are harsh but manageable; closer to Day 40, Ulcers, Incisors, and Callouses near Alpha and APS change how you defend home base—preview that spike in the Day 40 guide so you are not surprised mid-repair.

Materials vs armaments in plain language

Think of materials as the “build and fix” pile: wood, metal, repair components, bridge parts—whatever the session labels as construction feedstock. Think of armaments as the “fight” pile: ammunition crates and combat resupply. Logistics players win games by moving the right pile to the right node. Combat-only players who loot everything into a private stash slow the server. If a supply truck is headed to APS or Abley Harbour, confirm the cargo type before you climb in as dead weight.

Radiomen coordinate larger drops; Supports keep belts feeding; Engineers spend materials. Learning those handoffs in hour one is more valuable than finding a rare gun immediately—though when you are ready, Weapon Locations maps M40, Striker-12, M60, M249, USAS, and CAR-15 routes.

The day system (starts ~Day 28)

Servers often boot with the world already on roughly Day 28, not Day 1. That compressed calendar means you are never in a pure tutorial timeline—the outbreak is already mature. Watch the counter with M. Day 40 is the headline milestone: Marine unlocks around 1,000 reputation, Crashed Pilot around 10,000 reputation, and nastier infected patterns appear near Alpha and APS. Your first hour will not finish that grind, but you should know the target so every objective contributes to reputation instead of idle looting.

Classes you will meet early include Infantry, Medic, Engineer, Support, Auto Rifleman, Marksman, Grenadier, Radioman, Anti-Tank, CBRN, and Cleaner, with Marine, Delta, and Crashed Pilot as later identity spikes. Browse Players after this guide to pick a main that helps the server.

First-hour checklist

  1. Spawn Alpha, open map (M), note day number and Bravo bearing.
  2. Confirm binds: aim, reload, interact, flashlight, gas mask.
  3. Link with an Engineer; move materials to active repair jobs.
  4. Join a Bravo retake instead of wandering to the Hive.
  5. Separate materials and armaments when loading trucks.
  6. Survive to a stable Alpha/Bravo foothold; then plan logistics or weapon runs.
  7. Ignore code scam sites; use real progression paths only.

What not to do in hour one

Do not sprint into Hellmouth without CBRN planning—read Hellmouth Hive much later. Do not waste the session AFK at Alpha hoping codes appear. Do not steal the only supply truck for a joyride to Stafford Airfield while bridges are down. Do not flame teammates for playing Engineer or Radioman; those roles carry the win condition. Do not assume every gun spawn from a year-old video still exists—verify with Weapon Locations and Updates.

After the first hour

When Alpha is stable and Bravo is held, pick a second-hour goal: run a convoy (Logistics), start APC parts (How to Get the APC), or secure a marksman rifle (Weapon Locations). If the day counter is already high, shift some time toward reputation-safe team objectives ahead of Day 40. Keep this Getting Started page bookmarked for friends you invite mid-wipe; sending them here plus Controls is faster than voice-explaining every key.

Wayward Outpost rewards squads that treat the island like a living supply network. Master Alpha, respect the day clock, and let logistics—not loot FOMO—set your pace.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Eleske operations.

Where do new Wayward Outpost players spawn?

Most players begin around Outpost Alpha, the main friendly staging hub for repairs, regrouping, and early supply work before pushing Bravo.

What should I do in the first hour?

Learn controls, help Engineers repair with materials, join a Bravo retake, and understand materials versus armaments. Avoid Hellmouth and code scams until basics click.

What is the day counter and when does it start?

Open the map with M to see the server day. Many servers start near Day 28. Day 40 unlocks Marine and Crashed Pilot reputation gates and spawns tougher infected near Alpha/APS.

Are there beginner codes for free gear?

No. Wayward Outpost has no active promo codes. Progress through gameplay rewards and reputation instead of third-party code lists.

Which class helps the most early?

Engineer and Medic massively improve first-hour success. Infantry is fine if you escort repairs and Bravo pushes. Check the Players Hub and Tier List for fuller role advice.
